Abstract: A collection of digital facsimiles of petitions sent to the Massachusetts government. The source materials are from the Massachusetts Archives, Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Boston, Mass.
The legislative records at the Massachusetts Archives, Commonwealth of Massachusetts, encompass the files of the colonial General Court (1629-1780), the Provincial Congress (1774-1775), and the state General Court (1780-present): Petitions, orders, reports, messages, bills. Unenacted legislation and enacted statutes and resolves. House and Senate dockets, roll calls, and journals. Committee and legislative commission hearing and background files.
The online collection is organized into the following series:
Materials digitized for this collection include anti-slavery and anti-segregation petitions held by the Massachusetts Archives, Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Petitions were digitized from the passed resolves and acts, unpassed House and Senate legislation, the Council files, unpassed legislation relating to Indian affairs, and the Massachusetts Archives Collection. Not included in the digital collection are non-petition documents, which can be found at the Massachusetts Archives.
