BIOGRAPHY

Lynne Diane Spichiger attended University of Rochester (BA 1969) and Wesleyan University (MAT 1971). She taught English at Lee High School in New Haven, Connecticut (1970-1978), and worked as a research assistant in education at the National Institute of Education in Washington, DC, and at the State Department of Education in Boston, Massachusetts. She received her Ed.D. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Her thesis, entitled Managers' Perceptions of Caring in the Corporation, was completed in 1983.

ARRANGEMENT

The collection is arranged in two series:

SCOPE AND CONTENT

Series I, INTERVIEWS, RESEARCH NOTES, ETC., 1980-1983 (#1.1-4.7), contains a preliminary research paper as well as Spichiger's thesis; transcribed interviews, many with annotations, data sheets, etc.; notes analyzing the data (many organized by topic such as Goals, Style, Change); outlines, schedules for completing the work, etc. Spichiger interviewed 10 women and 10 men at a Boston-area corporation as part of her research. She carried out two interviews with each interviewee (Interview #1 and Interview #2) and referred to the interviewees by a number to preserve anonymity. M refers to men; W refers to women. Typically interview #1 is represented by notes; interview #2 is transcribed. Folder headings in quotation marks are those of the donor.
Series II, AUDIOTAPES OF INTERVIEWS, 1981 (#T-511.1-T-511.60), contains audiocassettes (60-minute or 90-minute tapes) of each interview.
