BIOGRAPHY

In February 1990, Linda S. Wilson was inaugurated as the seventh president of Radcliffe College. Wilson received her A.B. with honors from Tulane University (1957), and went on to receive her Ph.D in Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin, Madison (1962). Between 1964 and 1969, Wilson worked as a researcher and teacher at the University of Maryland, University of Southampton (England), and the University of Missouri. She then worked in university administration at Washington University, St. Louis (1969-1974), and the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign (1975-1985). From 1985-1989, Wilson was vice president for research at the University of Michigan.
Wilson is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Sigma Xi, and a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. In addition, she is a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Science, and the Research Roundtable of the National Academy of Sciences.

SCOPE AND CONTENT

This collection includes clippings and programs of the inauguration of Linda S. Wilson as president of Radcliffe in 1990. Included are transcripts of inauguration speeches by Derek Bok, the president of Harvard, and speeches by Radcliffe alumnae, and representatives of other institutions. In addition, there are official greetings and congratulations from other academic institutions, and notebooks of arrangements and instructions for volunteers at the inauguration. Also included are videotapes and audiotapes of the inauguration ceremony and the symposia. One folder contains resolutions, etc., by the State of Texas House of Representatives, on the occasion of Wilson's visit to Austin, 1997-1998.
Three audiocassettes of ceremonies and symposia are filed as 91-T1. Five videotapes and 4 videotape copies are filed as RA. VT-31.
