SCOPE AND CONTENT

Research material for the exhibition "Women of Harvard, 1636-1986," displayed at Agassiz House, September 1986, assembled by Jane S. Knowles, and Barbara N. Kravitz '52, and designed by Cristina Cardala (Harvard Graduate School of Design). The exhibit illustrated the Harvard family (honorands, faculty wives, presidents' wives, and women donors), the education of Radcliffe students at Harvard, and the employment of women staff, administrators, and professors in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, and in the schools of Law, Business, and Medicine. Also included are Jane S. Knowles's research material and article on "Women of Harvard: the first two centuries"; notes, anecdotes, and article on Radcliffe's history for the Radcliffe Quarterly.
This collection also contains samples of the extensive press coverage of the celebrations, all the clippings about Radcliffe and the history of women at Harvard, the fliers, releases, programs, and tickets for events during the celebrations, and the papers presented at the Radcliffe symposia.
Photographs of events and exhibit panels have been removed to the Photograph File.
