BIOGRAPHY

Pauline (Skornicki) Kra, college professor, was born in Lodz, Poland on July 30, 1934, the daughter of Edward and Natalia Skornicki. The family left Poland in 1946, and and lived for a time in France before emigrating to Venezuela. Kra was educated in Venezuela, 1947-1950 and then at Cherry Lawn School, Darien Connecticut. Kra studied at Radcliffe, 1951-1953, (where she was a resident of Briggs Hall,) and completed her A.B. at Barnard in 1955. She married Leo D. Kra, a lawyer, in 1955, and their sons David and Andrew, were born in 1955 and 1957. Encouraged by President Bunting's articles urging continuing education for women, Kra resumed study and completed her A.M. (1963) and Ph.D. (1968) at Columbia. Appointed to the French department at Yeshiva University, New York City in 19??, she has been a full professor since 1983. She is the author of a book and several articles on Montesquieu and Voltaire.

SCOPE AND CONTENT

This collection consists of Pauline Skornicki Kra's Radcliffe course notes and exams, 1951-1953, in largely scientific subjects.
