BIOGRAPHY

Kathleen Overmyer Elliott, dean and college administrator, was born in Lindsay Ohio, May 2, 1910 and received her B.A. and B.S. from Ohio State University in 1931. She did graduate work at the University of Chicago and received her Ph.D. in Classics from Radcliffe in 1942.
Elliott held the following positions at Radcliffe: secretary (1943) then director of admissions (1944-1953); associate dean (1953-1958); dean of Instruction (1958-1963); dean of the college (1963-1971); vice-president of the college (1968-1976); dean of students (1971-73); associate dean of the college (1971-1976); and Allston Burr Senior Tutor of Cabot House (1973-1976). Although her title changed frequently, her concern for students remained of overriding and constant importance.
Elliott was lecturer in classics at Harvard from 1953 until her retirement in 1976, was active in community organizations, and member of many professional societies. She was married to Van Courtlandt Elliott, teacher of Greek at Roxbury Latin School (Boston).
