HISTORY

The Child Care Center Parents Association of New York, founded ca. 1943, campaigned in the state of New York for funds to maintain and expand child care centers for children of working mothers.

SCOPE AND CONTENT

The collection consists of materials used by Mrs. Philip Lutzker, President of the Child Care Center Parents Association of New York, Inc., during her campaign to continue New York City appropriation and resume New York State and national support for the maintenance and expansion of child care centers for the children of working mothers.
The collection consists of newspaper clippings of editorials and news items in most of the major metropolitan newspapers, statements presented at the New York City Board of Estimate and Albany budget hearings by working mothers, correspondence, copies of newsletters and bulletins issued to parents whose children attended the child care centers, and minutes of meetings that record the activities and program of the Child Care Center Parents' Association, whose headquarters were in New York City but which functioned on a state-wide basis.
