BIOGRAPHY

Alde L. T. Blake (Mrs. William F. Blake) was a suffragist and in 1912 campaign secretary of the Michigan Equal Suffrage Association.

SCOPE AND CONTENT

This collection includes correspondence, annual reports, publications and other papers of the Michigan Equal Suffrage Association and the National American Women Suffrage Association, collected by Alde L. T. Blake (Mrs. William F.), a Michigan suffragist. Although Mrs. Blake was the campaign secretary in 1912, there are no letters written by her and very few directed to her. There is, however, extensive correspondence of Dr Alfred W. Wishart, campaign advisor to the Michigan Equal Suffrage Association, concerning the "Recount of 1912", which followed the election in which women in Michigan narrowly missed getting the vote. Also included are programs and other papers on suffrage and other meetings held in the state of Michigan between 1897 and 1919.
