HISTORY

The Class of 1915 consisted of 110 students, of whom 93 graduated. Forty five members of the class never married and went on to have careers. The largest group were teachers; others worked in medicine and social service, journalism, business, libraries, and theater and music, including Dorothy Sands. Alice Billings Browne, in a speech about the class in 1970, said: The class contains "no world famous alumnae, but a noteworthy record of honors achieved, successful careers, happy marriages, and a general disposition to care about our neighbors, our country ... and a dedication to work for peace and goodwill."

SCOPE AND CONTENT

Records compiled by Class Secretary and Treasurer Gertrude Shaw include reunion material, biographical notes, clippings, letters, songs, accounts, reports documenting the life course of a cohort of Radcliffe women through their careers or marriage and family life into old age. The material also illustrates class members' lasting interconnections and their relationship and reaction to change at the college.
