HISTORY

Founded in 1964 as Washington Opportunities for Women, Wider Opportunities for Women seeks to expand employment opportunities for women through information, employment training, and advocacy services. It works to overcome barriers to women's employment and economic equity, such as occupational segregation, sex stereotyped education and training, discrimination in employment practices and wages, and lack of appropriate dependent care.

SCOPE AND CONTENT

The collection includes minutes of executive committee and the board of directors, correspondence, financial records, publications, proposals, program reports, vocational education material, mailing lists, and videotapes. WOW's web site is being captured periodically as part of Harvard University Library's Web Archive Collection service (WAX); searchable archived versions of the web site will be available through this finding aid in 2010.
The records have been neither sorted nor rearranged. They are boxed and listed in the order in which they were received from the WOW office.
