BIOGRAPHY

Laura Gordon Lane, daughter of of William Allen and Martha (Conner) Lane III, was born November 15, 1913, in Vernon, Texas. She received a B.A. in journalism from Texas State College for Women in 1933. She served as Director of the Country Women's League, as well as editor of their leaflets, and of the Countrywoman section of the Country Gentleman, and was active in all phases of work for the rural woman. Following in the footsteps of Sara Bulette, she became chairman of the United States Liaison Committee of the Associated Country Women of the World. Lane died December 23, 2001.

SCOPE AND CONTENT

The papers consist of Sara Bulette's and Laura Lane's correspondence with the Associated Country Women of the World, 1936-1942, 1946-1947, 1950-1951. There are the manuscripts of articles submitted various contests run by the Country Gentlewoman, 1948, 1949, 1951 and 1952.
Records and reports of the activities of the Associated Country Women of the World, convention reports, pictures, etc. 1936-1955, and of the United States Liaison Committee and the Country Women's Council, U.S.A.
