Cape Ashakar, located 9 km west of Tangier, was excavated by a variety of people between 1939-1947. Bruce Howe was a member of the excavation team of 1947 and he was responsible for publishing the findings in The Palaeolithic of Tangier, Morocco: Excavtions at Cape Ashakar, 1939-1947. (ASPR, Peabody Museum, Harvard University, Bulletin No. 22).
