Abstract: Material created by Walter B. Howe between 1921 - 1933 that reflects his work in various areas of international law. During this period, Howe worked in Haiti and Santa Domingo, Nicaragua, Bolivia, Paraguay, and Cuba. He was also involved in litigation involving the Firestone Tire Rubber Company's holdings in Liberia.

Scope and Contents

This collection represents Howe's various roles in the field of international law between 1921 and 1933. Much of his work during this period was in Central and South America, though he also worked in Liberia. His work was generally on behalf of the US government but he also worked with the League of Nations.
The collection includes correspondence, memoranda, reports, transcripts, press releases, news clippings, financial statements, legal documents, telegrams, translated documents, resolutions, drafts of documents, handwritten notes, personal writings, books, and photographs.
