Oakes Ames (1874-1950) graduated from Harvard in 1898, taught botany at Harvard, and was director of the Botanical Museum.
He married Blanche Ames in 1900. His children were Pauline Ames Plimpton, Oliver Ames, Davis Ames, Evelyn Ames Davis, and Amyas Ames.
