Abstract: Photographs, correspondence, and other papers of cellist and music teacher, Paolo Gruppe.
Paolo Gruppe was a cellist and music teacher born in Rochester (N.Y.) and trained in Paris and Holland; his father and siblings were noted artists. He began a concert tour of the United States in 1909, accompanying Anna Pavlova in 1911. Following service in World War I, he returned to the U.S. where he taught and became a soloist with a number of American symphony orchestras.
Arranged in series for photographs (loose and in an album), correspondence, and other papers.
Collection includes a photograph album, loose photographs, correspondence, clippings, and other documents relating to Gruppe's personal and professional life.
