Biographical / Historical

Simon Vinkenoog (1928-2009) was a Dutch poet and writer. He was an advocate, admirer, and translator into Dutch of Timothy Leary.


Organized into the following series: I. Scrapbook titled Love, Special Delivery: The Timothy Leary Story II. Published material III. Other materials concerning drug culture and Timothy Leary

Scope and Contents

Collection contains a scrapbook and some loose materials in files. The scrapbook was created by Vinkenoog in honor of Timothy Leary and Leary's research and advocacy for the use of psychedelic drugs. It contains work about and published by the International Federation for Internal Freedom (IFIF) and the Castalia Foundation, printed ephemera and clippings concerning Timothy Leary's arrest and defense fund, and other material about Leary and LSD advocacy events and organizations. Loose materials inlcude offprints or proofs of Leary's Psychedelic Prayers; a portion of Leary's Star Seed distributed as a newsletter; a Dutch marijuana cookbook; a photograph of Leary with the band Ash Ra Tempel; a research file of essays concerning drug use; ephemera and clippings concerning Vinkenoog and Leary; and other materials.
