Biographical / Historical

Tony Straiges (born 1942) is an American theater designer for Broadway, off-Broadway and ballet. His first commission for Broadway was the 1978 Right and Forrest musical, Tumbuktu! Since then, Straiges has designed more than 20 productions for the stage and ballet. He was awarded a Tony for best scenic design in 1984 and in 1988 he was nominated for the same award for Into the Woods.

Includes set design drawings for the Broadway musicals Timbuktu! and Into the woods. Also includes 1/2" set scale models for the musicals Timbuktu! and Into the Woods, Tom Stoppard's mystery play, Artist Descending a Staircase and Women and Water, John Guare's third play in his four-play cycle.
