Biographical / Historical

Robert O'Hearn (1921-2016) was an American opera, ballet and theater designer. From 1948 to 1952 he worked at the Brattle Theatre Company at Harvard University. From 1960 to 1985 he was a resident designer at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. In addition, he worked on many productions on Broadway, as well as in many cities in the US and Europe. Until his retirement in 2008, he taught theater design at the Indiana University.


First series arranged alphabetically by title of production; second series, an addition, is minimally processed.

Scope and Contents

Includes set designs for productions of Captain Brassbound's Conversion, King Lear, Little Blue Light, The Sea Gull, Troilus and Cressida, and Yes Is For a Very Young Man at the Brattle Theatre Company and for Boris Godunov at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. Also includes a set design for an unidentified production at the Brattle Theatre.
Also includes an addition of 8 boxes of unsorted set and costume designs.
