Biographical / Historical

George Barbier was a prominent French artist who became famous as haute couture fashion illustrator, and theatre and ballet costume designer. In the mid-1920s he worked for the Paris cabaret music hall, Folies Bergère and later for L'Illustration magazine.


Arranged alphabetically by the name of character.

Scope and Contents

Includes 8 drawings of male and female characters in 18th-century style costumes for unidentified productions, possibly for a cabaret show. Each drawing is mounted in silk mat with backing.
