Biographical / Historical

Vanity fair (London, England : 1868) began publishing caricatures of well-known personalities in 1869. Over 2,300 portraits were published between 1869 and 1914.

Arranged alphabetically by caricature subject.

Scope and Contents

This collection includes 19th and 20th-century caricature prints, and accompanying text, that appeared in the magazine Vanity fair (London, England : 1868). Most of the prints are chromolithographs. Caricature artists represented in this collection include Sir Leslie Ward, Théobald Chartan, Wallace Hester, Lyall, "Nibs," Franz Goedecker, Liberio Prosperi, Carlo Pellegrini, and Sir Luke Fildes. Additionally, the collection includes 2 photographic prints.
