Biographical / Historical

The residents of Oberammergau, Germany vowed to perform a passion play every ten years if they were spared from the plague. The play was first performed in 1634 and continues to the present.

Scope and Contents

Photographic postcards, photographs, and images in souvenir viewbooks, concerning the Oberammergau passion-play. Includes images of actors, woodcarvers, the surrounding area, and buildings, including the Passionstheater Oberammergau. Also includes some postcards of: Switzerland; Chamonix, France; Innsbruck, Austria; and Berlin, Germany.
