Title: United States Navy Dept. Bureau of Construction and Repair war activities report,
Quantity: 1 collection (.5 linear feet (1 box)
Language of materials: Collection materials are in English.
Abstract: Typescript carbon report issued by the U. S. Navy on World War I construction and
repair of ships.
No accession number. Gift of Professor Robert Albion; received: 1959.
Memorandum from Professor Albion (donor) states: "... This is a carbon typescript
of which there are probably not more than one or two other copies extant. This apparently
came from the old Bureau of Engineering Library -- which merged with C. R. to form
Bureau of Ships in 1940. When I was at the Dept. during the War, I secured some of
the surplus material which was going to be thrown away. It also has two appendices
on different types, Sub-chasers and Destroyer Program -- with statistics and pictures.
This is really a valuable source for naval shipbuilding ... " A copy of this memo
is in the curatorial file.
