Abstract: Primarily letters from Portuguese poet and author Afonso Lopes Vieira, to author, poet, and publicist, José Bruges de Oliveira.
Lopes Vieira (1878-1946) was a Portuguese poet and author. He was born in Leiria and attended the University of Coimbra, spending the years from 1902 to 1916 as Redactor da Câmara dos Deputados in Lisbon. He resigned that post to spend more time reading and writing poetry and his home (S. Pedro de Moel) became a haven for artists and writers.José Bruges de Oliveira (b. 1889) was an author, poet, and publicist. He was one of the founders of the journal Tradicão.

Over 60 autograph and typescript letters and postcards from Lopes Vieira to Bruges de Oliveira. Many letters deal with literary matters or personal affairs. Some letters include poems and drawings. Many postcards include images of the Casa de S. Pedro de Moel, and one is a photograph of Lopes Vieira.Also includes miscellaneous items by or concerning Lopes Vieira such as: autograph poem on a calling card, autograph notes, typescript transcripts of poems, materials concerning the publication of a flier entitled Um Crime, and other miscellany.
