Scope and Contents

23 salted paper prints in an album, 31 x 26 cm. Three prints are attributed in a contemporary hand to "C.R. Jones", and 1 print to "Bridges". Eight of the prints are now attributed to Calvert Jones, 14 to John Dillwyn Llewelyn, and 1 to George Bridges. The prints are captioned in manuscript. The prints are lightly faded; a few are more heavily faded.Consists of 3 views of Pompeii; a view of an unidentified North African oasis; 2 Bristol street scenes; 3 views of Melbury and grounds, seat of the 3rd Earl of Ilchester and birthplace of W.H.F. Talbot; 3 views of Margam Hall, home of W.H.F. Talbot's cousin, C.H.F. Talbot: 1 includes Calvert Jones and his wife, and 1 is a two-part panoramic study; and views of Land's End, Lizard Point, other seascapes, Minterne, Sherborne, and St. Catherine's Chapel near Abbotsbury.Contemporary album of dark brown morocco, covers richly gilt to a panel design, gilt edges, by D. Davis, Cambridge, with his ticket.
