Biographical / Historical

Fridtjof Nansen was a Norwegian explorer, oceanographer, and statesman. His Arctic expedition of 1893-1896 demonstrated the revolutionary concept of pack-ice drift with his specially-built vessel, the "Fram", and he travelled closer to the North Pole than had been reached before. Frederick Sydney Parry was grandson of Arctic explorer Sir William Edward Parry.
