Biographical / Historical

Dickinson was a poet of Amherst, Mass. Correspondents and contract parties mentioned in this series are: Lavinia Norcross Dickinson (1833-1899), ED's sister; Austin Dickinson (1829-1895), ED's brother; and Martha Dickinson Bianchi (1866-1943), ED's niece (daughter of Austin and Susan Dickinson).

Scope and Contents

Includes contracts (1890-1935) to publish the poetry of, and books about, Emily Dickinson. Contracts are between Lavinia Norcross Dickinson and Martha Dickinson Bianchi and the publishing houses of Roberts Brothers (later Little, Brown and Company) and Houghton, Mifflin and Company. Collection also includes correspondence (1894-1901) of Austin Dickinson and Lavinia Norcross Dickinson with Roberts Brothers concerning the settlement of a debt.
