Biographical / Historical

Paine Wingate (1739-1838), Congregational minister, legislator, and judge, was ordained pastor of the Congregational Church in Hampton Falls, New Hampshire in 1763, was a delegate to the New Hampshire constitutional convention in 1781, served in the state legislature and the U.S. House and Senate (1783-1797), and was a judge of the Superior Court (1798-1809).
