Biographical / Historical

Sergeev was a Russian ballet dancer, notator, and manager of the ballet troupe of the Mariinsky Theatre (1903-1918), after which he emigrated to the United States, taking with him the ballet archive.

Scope and Contents

Manuscripts of choreographic and music scores of Peter Illich Tchaikovsky's ballet Swan lake, including a printed piano reduction with notes in the hand of Sergeev, the full score of Acts I, II, and III in an unidentified hand, scenes from the prologue in an unidentified hand, a choreographic score possibly in the hand of Sergeev, a typescript of descriptions of scenes and actions, and a printed program of Swan lake from the Mariinsky Theatre, among other items.
