Biographical / Historical

Locker-Lampson was an English poet and book collector.

Scope and Contents

Includes letters, compositions, engravings, drawings and other documents by European literary and historical figures as well as mezzotint, lithograph or engraved portraits of them. Autographs include Jane Austen, Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, William Blake, Michelangelo Buonarotti, Martin Luther, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, and François Marie Arouet de Voltaire, among many others. Album formerly bound, letters and some items removed to folders in boxes, most engravings and images remain in the volume.
The album is sometimes referred to as the Great Album of Frederick Locker. All published references to material from this album must employ the title The Locker-Lampson, Warburg, Grimson Autograph Album.
