Biographical / Historical

John Grimes Walker was an American naval officer who helped lead the siege of Vicksburg during the Civil War, and later was U.S. Navy Commanding Officer in the Pacific; he retired with the rank of Rear Admiral.

Scope and Contents

Correspondence, together with military instructions, concerning the administration of the Pacific Station in Hawaii where Walker was commanding officer.
