Biographical / Historical

Irish dancer, actress, lecturer, writer, and political activist, Lola Montez was also known as Marie Dolores Eliza (or Elisa) Rosanna Gilbert, Maria Dolores Parris Montez, and Comtesse de Landsfeld. Maria Buchanan was her friend.

Scope and Contents

Includes two letters from Lola Montez to Buchanan, one letter from Ludwig I, King of Bavaria, to Buchanan concerning the death of Montez, one letter from Stephen H. Tyng to Buchanan, and a cut signature of U.S. Congressional minister Henry Ward Beecher, among other items.
