Richard Cromwell was the Lord Protector of England and eldest surviving son of Oliver Cromwell.

Scope and Contents

The recipient is addressed as "Madam" and "Dear Heart" and is probably Robert Cromwell's wife. The recipient was formerly identified as Elizabeth Cromwell (Robert Cromwell's mother), but she died in 1665.
