Biographical / Historical

Zola was a French novelist, critic, and political activist. The Dreyfus Affair was the controversy that occurred with the treason conviction (1894) of Capt Alfred Dreyfus (1859–1935), a French general staff officer. Zola was a leading supporter of Dreyfus.
