William Roscoe Thayer was a biographer and historian. From 1892 to 1915 he was editor of the Harvard Graduates' Magazine.

Scope and Content

Letters to and from Thayer, together with manuscripts of poems by Thayer. Includes 64 letters, 1879-1905, from Thayer to his college friend Harrison O. Apthorp; and 28 letters (chiefly condolence letters), 1923-1927, to Elizabeth Thayer. Also includes a facsimile of a letter, 1796, of Vittorio Alfieri to Antonio Montucci.
