Cary was an English biographer and translator, as well as an Anglican minister and a librarian. Anna Seward was an English poet and author.

Scope and Content

Includes letters from Cary to Seward concerning Cary’’s poetry, Seward’’s poetry, Italian poetry in general, and the nomination of Cary as a fellow at Oriel College with a list of current fellows. These letters also mention the writings of Spencer, Rousseau, Milton, Dante, among others. Most of the letters also include verses by Cary.
