Abstract: Correspondence, translations and prose writen by Polish writer and translator Jozef Wittlin.
Wittlin (1896-1976) was a Polish writer and translator.

Contains correspondence of Wittlin and his wife Halina; manuscripts of his poetry, prose, and translations; and personal papers. Correspondence consists of letters to Wittlin and carbons of replies from him and his wife concerning awards and grants presented to Wittlin; membership in societies, such as American Association of Arts and Letters; efforts to bring Polish refugees to America in the 1940s; and his writings and translations. Additionally there is correspondence with many literary figures in Europe and the U.S. Enclosed with the letters to Wittlin were some original manuscripts and copies. Compositions by Wittlin include poems, 1942-1975, in Polish; translations into Polish of English, Spanish, Italian, and German works, and his translation of the Odyssey; and notes, articles, and broadcast scripts 1976.
