Biographical / Historical

Martin was a French author and Mme. Bernardin de Saint-Pierre was the widow of the French novelist, she later married Martin.

Scope and Contents

Letters concern his personal affairs, writing projects, and their meetings. Also includes letters from Martin to the French philosopher Pierre Hyacinthe Azaïs concerning the latter's principle of expansion, and to Mme. Gransard d'Epinal discussing his work Education of Mothers of Families.
