Biographical / Historical

Born in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1884, Jules Supervielle was a poet, dramatist, and short story writer. In 1944, Eduardo J. Bullrich and Oliverio Girondo edited a limited edition of Supervielle's Choix de poèmes published in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Supervielle died in Paris in 1960.

Scope and Contents

Documents include an autograph manuscript of Supervielle's poem "1940" issued with the 1944 limited edition of Choix de poèmes. Additionally, there is correspondence of Supervielle, Eduardo J. Bullrich, and Oliverio Girondo as well as prospectuses, notes, and other materials received with Houghton Library's copy of the book.
