The Harvard Botanical Museum 16mm Film Collection was used for educational purposes by the Harvard Botanical Museum, which was founded in 1858 by Asa Gray and originally called the Museum of Vegetable Products. Collecting continued over the years in a variety of forms, including film. The films within this collection span from 1943 to 1978, and while one film within the collection was produced by Harvard University, most were acquired from outside producers. They focus on a variety of specific topics all focusing around agriculture and botanical sciences, some with ethnographic and historical looks at agriculture.
