Paul Edward Killinger (1926-1996) was born in Buffalo, New York. He served in the navy from 1944 to 1946 and married Loretta Elizabeth Muszalski shortly after his graduation from the University of Buffalo in 1949. He received an STB from Harvard Divinity School in 1953 and was ordained a Unitarian minister the following year. He subsequently ministered to churches in Stow, Massachusetts; Bloomington, Indiana; Anaheim, California; and Flint, Michigan. He founded the Bloomington Planned Parenthood Association and Clinic in 1962 and later served as president of Flint Community Planned Parenthood from 1970 to 1972. He retired from the ministry in 1974.
The collection consists of Killinger's sermons written between 1950 and 1970. Most of the sermons were composed between 1958 and 1967. It also includes a typed manuscript entitled "Some Observations on Unitarianism as a Social Movement."
