Henry Monford Cary (1878-1936) graduated from St. Francis Xavier College and was originally ordained as a Catholic priest in the missionary order of Regulars. Following his break with Catholicism, he was ordained in the Universalist tradition and served parishes in Auburn and Little Falls, New York. He served as the head of the Universalist mission to Japan, and was awarded a doctor of divinity degree from Lombard in 1926.
This collection consists of correspondence, sermons, writings, worship material, newspaper clippings, and biographical material on Henry Monford Cary and his wife, Maude Cary. There is also material on the Cary's stay in Japan including reports and clippings.
