Biographical / Historical

Asa Porter Morse was a Boston merchant who dealt in shooks for packing and cooperage. Born in Haverhill, N.H., Morse came to Boston in 1840. He was a representative in the Massachusetts General Court in 1869 and 1873 and a state senator, 1879-1880.

Scope and Contents

Correspondence (foreign and domestic), bills, accounts, and other records of Asa P. Morse and Company. Also included are some letters relating to Morse's political career and some family correspondence and papers. There are also papers concerning lumbering in Woodstock Valley, Conn.
