Historical Note:

The Consolidated Investment Trust (CIT) was a Boston, Massachusetts based medium-sized mutual fund founded in 1933 by a small group of prominent Boston businessman including Chandler Hovey, W. Rodman Peabody, and Frederic E. Snow. The fund began with the consolidation of mutual funds managed by Peabody & Co. in the 1930s which at the time had several thousand shareholders. In 1972 Consolidated Investment Trust acquired Boston Property Trust and was soon thereafter reorganized. Due to a slow decline in total assets over the next 10 years, in 1982 CIT sought to combine with another investment company and were ultimately acquired by The George Putnam Fund of Boston in December of the same year.
