Historical Note:

The following historical note was taken from the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives "History of ACCE" website.
The Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) was founded in Washington D.C. in 1914 as the National Association of Commercial Organization Secretaries (NACOS).
NACOS was headquartered in Washington, D.C. representing 176 members nationwide. They were created as a professional development organization aimed at the personal and professional improvement of chamber of commerce executives. At the NACOS ten-year anniversary, membership was a strong 1,045 and they were well on their way to establishing themselves.
During the 1920s, NACOS developed the well-respected Chamber Institute program which provided professional leadership and guidance to members. The decade of the 40's brought about change to the organization and NACOS officially became known as the American Chamber of Commerce Executives. In 2014 ACCE renamed the organization to better describe the mission by becoming the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives.
Today, ACCE is headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia and represents over 1,200 members servicing 7,000 staff throughout the United States and internationally.

Series Outline

The collection is arranged in the following series:

Scope and Content Note:

The records of the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives contain printed materials, board of director's meeting minutes, administrative records, communications materials and membership directories and photographs. The bulk of the records are yearbooks compiled by the ACCE communications office in order to preserve mailings, stationary, conference announcements, favors, brochures and programs. Each yearbook represents an entire year's worth of materials sent by ACCE to its national membership constituency. These materials were removed from their bindings and kept in original order. Also included are materials related to the National Association of Membership Directors of Chambers of Commerce (NAMD) conferences from 1992-2002 such as programs, brochures and schedules, some of which were recorded live.
Many of the ACCE publications and newsletters have been added to Baker Library Historical Collection's print collection. Please search HOLLIS to find these materials.
