Historical Note:

The first Executive Education program offered by HBS was the War Industry Training Course (which later became the Advanced Management Program- AMP). This course was established to retrain executives who had either lost jobs otherwise had their executive training disrupted during World War II.
Over the years HBS has established many programs for executives, inlcuding the Smaller Company Management Program (SCMP), Health Systems Management Program (HSMP), and the Owner/President Management Program (OPM). From 1957 to 2005, HBS offered the Program for Management Development (PMD), a two-to-three month executive education program for high-potential middle managers. This program merged with The General Manager Program (TGMP) and is now the called the General Management Program (GMP).
